It’s the time of year for holiday films! There are plenty of festive things to do when the holidays roll around, but nothing compares to cuddling up on the couch with the people you care about and ordering up a classic Christmas movie after the tree has been decorated, the cookies have been made, and the gifts have been wrapped.

There is much disagreement about what precisely qualifies as a “Christmas movie” in movies. Does December have to be the month when much of the story takes place? Does it have to have an Old Saint Nick cameo and a Christmas music soundtrack? Or does it just need to convey the genuine meaning of the season in a Christmassy manner? Since different individuals have varied interpretations of what Christmas means, we decided to define the genre as “all of the above” when compiling this list of the greatest Christmas movies ever made.

The Christmas Chronicles

Kurt Russell plays a particularly cool, attractive, and wise-cracking Santa Claus in this Netflix original, helping a brother and sister (Judah Lewis and Darby Camp) rediscover the magic of Christmas following the death of their father. The Christmas Chronicles was produced by Chris Columbus (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone) and was directed by Clay Kaytis (The Angry Birds Movie). Russell’s performance is the main attraction here, and he does not dissapoint. You probably haven’t seen a Santa like this before.

In the follow-up to the 2018 holiday hit, Santa is joined by the Pierce children as they battle a foe who threatens to ruin Christmas for everyone. The main draw in this area? Goldie Hawn, Russell’s real-life love interest, joins the ensemble as Mrs. Claus after coming out of semi-retirement.

It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown has grown to be a terrifying Halloween favorite for families all across the world more than 50 years after its initial release. But to see the spectacle, you don’t have to go into a pumpkin farm at night. You can watch the Great Pumpkin whenever and wherever you want with the appropriate video streaming provider.

Apple TV+ streaming is the quickest and maybe only way to view It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. In addition to commissioning new specials, such as the most recent It’s the Small Things, Charlie Brown, Apple acquired the Peanuts rights to make iconic specials like this and A Charlie Brown Christmas available on its video-streaming platform. There is a seven-day free trial for Apple TV+, which has a monthly fee of $4.99. (three months if you buy an Apple device). From October 28 to October 31 everyone can watch It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown without charge on Apple TV+.

Apple permits public broadcaster PBS to air A Charlie Brown Christmas live and commercial-free on television during the holiday season.
